Pirates Minor League Report: Grasshoppers Light It Up
Pirates’ affiliates picked up two wins on Saturday, with Nick Cimillo hitting his second homer in as many games and an excellent start from Patrick Reilly.
Greensboro exploded for 16 runs against the Jersey Shore BlueClaws, putting up 11 runs in the eighth to blow the game wide open. Shawn Ross, Jack Brannigan and Nick Cimillo homered, Termarr Johnson notched four hits and Reilly allowed one run in six innings.
Triple-A Indianapolis thrashed the Rochester Red Wings 13-4, with Malcom Nuñez hitting a grand slam to put the exclamation point on a three-hit game.
The Altoona Curve lost 3-0 to the Akron Rubber Ducks, managing just three hits and spoiling a seven inning quality start from Po-Yu Chen.
The Bradenton Marauders lost 4-2 to the Clearwater Threshers. Mike Burrows got roughed up in his third start since returning from Tommy John surgery, and a two-run homer from Keiner Delgado wasn’t enough to make up the early deficit.
