Pirates’ affiliates went 2-2 on Saturday, logging an all-around organizational performance with standout plays from the field, at the plate and on the pitcher’s mound.

Catchers Henry Davis (playing at designated hitter for the day) and Jason Delay starred for Triple-A Indianapolis, with a homer from the former and a three-hit day from the latter, but their strong days at the plate couldn’t prevent a 4-3 loss to the Columbus Clippers.

The Altoona Curve dropped the Bowie BaySox 4-1. All the offense came off an opposite field grand slam from third baseman Brenden Dixon, while right fielder Jase Bowen keyed a spectacular double play to seal the win, sliding for a catch in foul territory before getting up and firing to home plate to hose a baserunner.

Patrick Reilly went seven strong for Greensboro, striking out six batters and allowing one run. Center fielder Hudson Head ended a triple shy of the cycle as the Grasshoppers defeated the Winston-Salem Dash 4-2.

The Bradenton Marauders pitched nine shutout frames but couldn’t score themselves, losing 1-0 to Jupiter in the tenth: the only run they allowed was the extra-innings ghost runner.
