Pirates affiliates picked up two wins on Wednesday, aided by another excellent start from Carlson Reed and a pair of multi-homer games in Bradenton.

Pirates’ top prospect Bubba Chandler suffered his first down night in five starts since joining the Indianapolis Indians, allowing four total runs in five innings. The 6-foot-2 right-hander, who will turn 22 next week, fired just 53 percent of his pitches for strikes but still managed to miss bats, tallying eight punchouts.

Deadline acquisition Nick Yorke hit three doubles in the 9-6 win, while Joshua Palacios hit four.

Altoona got walked off 6-5 by Hartford. Nick Cimillo made his way on base four times, continuing a recent hot streak, while 2022 eleventh round pick Dominic Perachi continues to struggle with the promotion to Double-A: while he possesses a strong 3.53 ERA on the season, it’s ballooned to 6.50 with the Curve.

Greensboro squeaked past Bowling Green 2-1 thanks to 6.1 innings from WVU product Carlson Reed and catcher Omar Alfonzo’s second straight game with a homer.

Esmerlyn Valdez and Jhonny Severino each hit two homers for Bradenton, setting up an 8-6 win. Valdez’s second homer gave him 21 on the season, the best mark in the Florida State League.
