Pirates Minor League Report: Bubba Chandler Makes it Work

Pittsburgh Pirates right-hander Bubba Chandler

Triple-A Indianapolis, the Pirates’ lone affiliate still playing as the minor league seasons wrap up, lost 4-2 to the St. Paul Saints on Tuesday. The Indians got 5.1 solid innings out of Pirates’ top prospect Bubba Chandler, who struck out eight batters and allowed two runs. While he fired 60 of 86 pitches for strikes, it wasn’t Chandler’s sharpest night: he allowed seven hits and a pair of walks, using a double play and his ability to miss bats in order to put together a respectable outing.

Catcher Endy Rodríguez continued his rehab assignment as he works his way back from elbow surgery, picking up two hits and a walk. Shortstop Alika Williams, recently optioned to Triple-A from the big league squad, logged three hits on the night.

Here are some of the top performances from Indianapolis on Tuesday night.
