Bubba Chandler, the Pirates’ current top prospect, carried a perfect game into the sixth inning for Triple-A Indianapolis on Tuesday night.
The 6-foot-2, 200 pound flamethrower then allowed a two-out single and walked the bases loaded, but still managed to force his tenth and final strikeout of the night and end the threat.
Altoona lost 6-2 to Richmond, with shortstop prospect Tsung-Che Cheng’s steal of home among the highlights. Catcher Endy Rodríguez went 0-for-3 with a passed ball in his first live game action since last November, when he suffered a UCL injury that required surgery.
Greensboro lost 6-0 to the Hudson Valley Renegades in the first game of their best of three playoff series. Carlson Reed struggled with efficiency, throwing just 41 of 81 pitches for strikes, but managed to work four scoreless innings.
