PITTSBURGH — Chase Shugart’s wild pitch in the 11th inning forced home the winning run as the Pittsburgh Pirates fell 3-2 to the Atlanta Braves at PNC Park on Saturday.

How We Got There

Michael Harris II put the Braves (19-20) ahead 1-0 in the second inning with an RBI-double to right. Bryan Reynolds broke in on the liner but the ball ended up way over his head, allowing Marcell Ozuna to score easily.

With two outs in the following inning, Matt Olson hit a solo homer into the bullpen off Andrew Heaney to put Atlanta ahead 2-0.

Joey Bart cut the Braves’ lead in half with an RBI-single up the middle in the bottom of the third.

With a runner on third and two outs in the bottom of the eighth, Matt Gorski legged out an infield single to tie the game at 2-all.

The braves had a runner on third with two outs in the 11th. Shugart (1-3) narrowly avoided hitting Eli White in the head, but the ball ended up reaching the backstop to give the Braves the game-winning run.

The Pirates (13-27) came up empty in the bottom of the 11th against Scott Blewett (2-0).

Key Moment

Henry Davis stood at third base as the automatic runner with one out in the bottom of the 10th but was thrown out at home on Matt Gorski’s grounder to third baseman Austin Riley.

Star of the Game

Joey Bart set a career-high with four hits. He also drove in his first run since Apr. 22, which snapped a 14-game drought. He entered play hitless in his last 10 at-bats.

Yes it was Shugert wild pitch but Davis should of stayed put. He did that before and lost a chance to win. If he stayed put then the hit which happened next would of won the game
