Pittsburgh Pirates

Wednesday Aug. 31 and the Pittsburgh Pirates visit the Milwaukee Brewers in the finale of a three-game series at 2:10 p.m. ET at American Family Field.

The Pirates won 4-2 on Tuesday to even the series at one game apiece. Rookie shortstop Oneil Cruz went 2 for 4 with two RBIs and scored the winning run in the eighth inning.

The game will air on AT&T SportsNet Pittsburgh and 93.7 The Fan.

Starters

Zach Thompson (3-10, 5.33) gets the call for the Pirates as JT Brubaker remains on the paternity list, leaving an open spot in the rotation. Thompson’s last outing came in relief against the Phillies in Philadelphia last Friday and he allowed two runs (one earned) in five innings. He is winless in 13 games (11 starts) since June 5.

The Brewers will counter with Freddy Peralta (4-3, 3.69). He pitched six no-hit innings against the Chicago Cubs last Friday in Milwaukee but was lifted after throwing 82 pitches. Peralta hasn’t won in his last three starts.

Weather

The forecast calls for sunny, a high temperature of 85 degrees and wind from the west from 10-15 mph. The American Family Field roof will likely be open.
