The Pittsburgh Pirates shuffled backup catchers Friday night when they claimed Jose Godoy off waivers from the Minnesota Twins.

Godoy was in uniform for the game with the Orioles in Baltimore.

Taylor Davis was designated for assignment just one day after his contract was selected from Triple-A Indianapolis. Davis was called up for Thursday’s win over the Milwaukee Brewers when Tyler Heineman went on the 10-day injured list with a strained right groin.

Godoy, 27, played in two games for the Twins this season and went 0 for 3 with two walks and two strikeouts. At Triple-A St. Paul, the left-handed hitter batted .197/.272/.299 in 42 games with three home runs.

Godoy made his major league debut last season with the Seattle Mariners. He played in 16 games and hit .162/.225/.189 in 16 games.
