Pirates Announce 2022 Non-Roster Spring Training Invitees

Friday afternoon, the Pirates made some decisions on their spring training roster, and several top prospects are included in this years’ non-roster invitees.



List of Pirates 2020 Non-Roster Invitees

  • LHP Cam Alldred– went 4-0 with 2.18 ERA in 66 innings between Indy and Altoona.
  • INF Ji-hwan Bae– hit .281 with 12 doubles, 5 triples, 8 home runs, 33 RBI and 20 stolen bases between Altoona and two Pirate rehab teams in Florida. Pirates 11th best prospect by FanGraphs.
  • C Carter Bins– hit .234 with 12 doubles, 8 home runs and 41 RBI between A and AA. Acquired last season in Tyler Anderson trade. “Best Defensive Catcher” in Pirates organization according to Baseball Ameria.
  • RHP Cody Bolton– Missed entire 2021 season (knee surgery). Entered 2021 season rated as Pirates 4th best pitching prospect according to MLB Pipeline.
  • RHP Mike Burrows– Rated 12th best prospect in Pirates organization according to FanGraphs. Enters 2022 as having the “Best Curveball” in Pirates minors according to Baseball America.
  • C Henry Davis– Pirates No. 1 overall pick in 2021 MLB Draft. Pirates No. 1 prospect according to Baseball America.
  • C Taylor Davis– hit. 248 with 6 doubles, 2 home runs and 22 RBI in AAA last season. Acquired by Pirates last season from Baltimore.
  • RHP Yerry De Los Santos- went 3-2 with 2 saves, 1.52 ERA in 16 games between Altoona and Indianapolis.
  • RHP Jared Eickhoff– has gone 21-32 with 4.35 ERA in 85 games (80 starts) with Phillies (2015-19) and NY Mets (2021).
  • RHP Adrian Florencio– named Pirates organization and Low-A 2021 Pitcher of the Year. Signed as non-drafted free agent in 2019.
  • OF Matt Fraizer– named Pirates organization Player of the Year and High-A East League’s MVP. .306 average, .388 OBP, .552 slugging %, .939 OBP, between Greensboro and Altoona.
  • INF Nick Gonzales– Pirates No. 1 pick in 2020 Draft. Rated Pirates No. 3 prospect according to Baseball America. Hit .302, 23 doubles, 4 triples, 18 home runs and 54 RBI in 80 games with Greensboro.
  • OF Bligh Madris- hit .267 with 25 doubles, 9 home runs and 56 RBI between Altoona and Indianapolis.
  • INF Mason Martin– led Pirates minor leagues with 25 home runs and 81 RBI between Altoona and Indianapolis.
  • RHP Emanuel Mejia– named Pirates organization Reliever of the Year. Had .042 ERA between Bradenton and Greensboro.
  • OF Cal Mitchell– hit .279 with 20 doubles, 12 home runs and 62 RBI between Altoona and Indianapolis.
  • RHP Carmen Mlodzinski– went 2-3 with 3.93 in 14 starts with Greensboro. Ranked Pirates 10th-best prospect according to Baseball America.
  • RHP Kyle Nicolas– Acquired in Jacob Stallings trade. Led all Marlins minor league players with 136 strikeouts.
  • OF/INF Hunter Owen– Led Indianapolis in home runs (20) and third in RBI (53).
  • C Micheal Perez– Spent the entire 2021 with Pirates, played in a career-high games (58).
  • RHP Quinn Priester– Named High-A Pitcher of the Year in 2021. Pirates 1st round pick in 2019. Rated Pirates 6th best prospect by Baseball America.
  • C Jamie Ritchie– hit .317 with 18 doubles, 4 home runs and 43 RBI with AAA Reno (Houston organization)
  • C Endy Rodriguez- Named Low-A Most Valuable Player. Rated Pirates 7th best prospect by Baseball America.
  • RHP Hunter Stratton– Went 2-2, 2.39 ERA, 70 strikeouts in 38 relief appearances with Altoona and Indianapolis.
  • RHP Beau Sulser– Made 24 starts last season with Indianapolis.
  • RHP Tahnaj Thomas– Rated by FanGraphs as the 90th best prospect in all of baseball at the end of last season. Spent entire 2021 with Greensboro.
  • INF Jared Triolo– Spent all of last season with Greensboro and named Pirates organization’s Defender of the Year.
  • LHP Blake Weiman– Went 5-0 with 4.76 ERA in 35 relief appearances last year with Indianapolis.
