PBN’s 2023 World Series Predictions
Only two teams are still standing. The Texas Rangers will face the Arizona Diamondbacks in the 2023 World Series.
Texas defeated the Houston Astros in seven games in the ALCS, while the Diamondbacks took down the Phillies in game seven in Philadelphia to get here.
Both teams overcame underdog statuses to get to the Fall Classic. Both teams were in the Wild Card round, with the Rangers going through the Tampa Bay Rays and Baltimore Orioles before knocking off Houston. Arizona defeated the Milwaukee Brewers and Los Angeles Dodgers before their series win over the Phillies.
Who will prevail? Here are our predictions.
John Perrotto
Prediction: Rangers in seven
MVP: Corey Seager
This matchup between two wild cards gives hope to all downtrodden franchises. Just two years ago, the Diamondbacks lost 110 games and the Rangers had a 102-loss season. Both teams have gotten hot in October and look for them to go the full seven games before the Rangers prevail behind Seager, the MVP of the 2020 World Series with the Dodgers – which happened to be played in Arlington because of the pandemic.
Danny Demilio
Prediction: Rangers in six
MVP: Marcus Semien
Against the odds, the Rangers and Diamondbacks will meet in the Fall Classic. Betting against Arizona (again) in particular feels like the poor choice considering all they’ve accomplished this postseason as regular underdogs. With that being said, I see the Rangers prevailing to win their first World Series in franchise history thanks to their impressive lineup and the fact that three-time world champion Bruce Bochy will be calling the shots.
Griffin Floyd
Prediction: Rangers in seven
MVP: Jordan Montgomery
This series will come down to the pitching. I trust Jordan Montgomery and Nathan Eovaldi’s workhorse abilities more than I trust the Diamondbacks’ rotation. Max Scherzer, if he can return to some semblance of his usual form, is the icing on the cake. The Rangers’ offense, similarly, will prove too much for the Snakes to keep up with, although a streaky Texas bullpen could keep things interesting late. In a postseason full of surprises, it’s only fair to say the Fall Classic will go the distance, especially with both clubs showing a gritty ability to win on the road.
Cody Potanko
Prediction: Rangers in six
MVP: Adolis García
The Arizona Cinderella story was nice while it lasted, but it seems the Rangers are just too powerful. Garcia seems like he’s on another level right now and can’t be stopped. I will say, however, Corbin Carroll is going to be great for years to come. Texas’ pitching staff has a slight edge in my opinion and I think it will come down to whose pitching staff can get the most innings out of their starters.
