PBN Around the Horn: It Ain’t Called the Hall of Saints, Folks

Published

on

Welcome to the PBN Around the Horn. Here you’ll find news and notes from across Major League Baseball, your Pittsburgh Pirates, and around the Sports Now network.

Scandal, from the Greek word skandalon which means snare or stumbling block. One can say that Major League Baseball has seen its fair share of stumbling blocks. From its checkered past of racism, the steroid era, and more recently, sign-stealing scandals.

Well, we have Carlos Beltran on the next Hall of Fame ballot, and now we must ask, will sign-stealing be treated the same as steroids?

If (and that’s a big IF) the character clause is real and not just a mirage of purity, then Beltran should never be inducted. Beltran surely has a resume that could argue a Hall of Fame bid, but the Hall of Sain… I mean, Fame doesn’t allow bad guys in. Well, unless you’re Ty Cobb, Babe Ruth, etc., you get my point.

Baseball is broken, and of course, the Hall of Fame process isn’t on the top of the list, but it surely doesn’t help when you have black eyes such as this on the front pages across America.
