After the Braves (8-8-2) tied the game 1-1 in the fourth on a Jarred Kelenic RBI-fielder’s choice, Jack Suwinski put the Pirates back ahead with a solo homer to right field in the sixth.
Later in the inning, Billy McKinney provided plenty of insurance with a single swing. McKinney connected on a three-run home run to center to put Pittsburgh up 5-1.
Six different Pirates’ pitchers limited Atlanta to just two hits. Josh Fleming (1-0) was credited with the win with two-scoreless innings out of the bullpen.
