Prospect Luis Ortiz was roughed up for five runs and seven hits in one-plus inning Monday night as the Pittsburgh Pirates were routed by the New York Yankees 9-2 in a Grapefruit League at Steinbrenner Field in Tampa.

Ortiz gave up five runs in the Yankees’ six-run second inning that broke a scoreless tie. Another prospect, Colin Selby, served up a three-run home to Aaron Judge after relieving Ortiz.

The Pirates fell behind 9-0 before scoring single runs in the eighth and ninth innings to avoid being shut out.

Cal Mitchell doubled in the eighth inning and scored on a groundout by Henry Davis. Non-roster outfielder Chavez Young hit a 408-foot home run in the ninth, his first of the spring.

The Pirates were held to four hits in falling to 2-6-2.

On Tuesday afternoon, the Pirates host the Toronto Blue Jays in Bradenton, Fla., with Mitch Keller scheduled to pitch against Yusei Kikuchi. First pitch is scheduled for 1:05 p.m. and the game will be televised by AT&T Sportsnet Pittsburgh.
