Gregory Polanco Finds a New Home in Toronto with the Blue Jays

After all of the news, opinions, and thoughts on Gregory Polanco’s release, the big man from the Dominican has found a home. It is being reported that Polanco has signed a deal with the Toronto Blue Jays. Unfortunately for Polanco, the deal is a minor league one, and unless the Blue Jays put him on the active roster prior to September 1st, he is not eligible for the playoffs.

It was pretty evident that if Polanco were to sign with a team, that team would be an A.L. team. Polanco’s defense is not what many would call coordinated, and after his shoulder injury, his arm is shot, so it makes sense to slot him in the D.H. role and use just his bat.

Seeing Polanco sign with Toronto is a weird and wonderful moment all at the same time. It’s wonderful to see him get another shot with a team and hopefully figure it out; what’s weird is the team; having Ben Cherington and Steve Sanders come from Toronto makes you wonder if either of them called the Blue Jays’ front office and put in a good word.
