Pirates Prospect Anthony Solometo Added to Top 100 List
MLB Pipeline has released a new Top 100 Prospects list, and the Pittsburgh Pirates have a new addition to that list. LHP Anthony Solometo has just snuck in at number 100.
Solometo marks the fifth Pirates prospect on the list.
The other prospects include second baseman Termarr Johnson, catcher Henry Davis, catcher Endy Rodriguez, and RHP Quinn Priester.
Solometo started the 2023 season in High-A Greensboro, where he pitched 58.2 innings with an ERA of 2.30 in 12 games started.
Solometo then got the call-up to Double-A Altoona and made his Double-A debut on June 17 against the Somerset Patriots, where he pitched five innings and struck out seven, and gave up two earned runs.
Solometo made one other start in Altoona on June 23 against the Bowie Baysox. Solometo went five innings while giving up just two hits, no earned runs, one walk, and struck out six.
One of the biggest development for Solometo in his last start was that he is now hitting 95-96 mph on his fastball. In his previous game in Altoona, Solometo was throwing around 90-91 mph.
