Pittsburgh Pirates-Nick Gonzales

The Arizona Fall League season marches on as we get ready to flip the calendar to November. After an off day on Sunday, it’s time to provide updates on the Pittsburgh Pirates’ prospects competing in the action.

The Surprise Saguaros hold a one-game lead fir first place in the AFL standings. Here’s how the Pirates’ prospects are performing.

INF Nick Gonzales

  • .269/.328/.538, 14 for 52, three doubles, one triple, three home runs, 11 RBIs, 14 games

Gonzales has been successful at the plate for the Saguaros and has showed off his power ability. He leads the club with his 11 RBIs.

C Henry Davis

  • .268/.469/.463, 11 for 41, five doubles, one home run, four RBIs, three steals, 14 games

Davis had a bit of a down week for Surprise but has been a steady producer overall. He has drawn 10 walks in 14 games at the plate and has shown an ability to steal a base.

C Blake Sabol

  • .222/.364/.333, 8 for 36, one double, one home run, six RBIs, 11 games

Like Davis, Sabol has been getting on-base at a high rate and has drawn seven walks at the plate.

INF Jacob Gonzalez

  • .136/.130/.273, 4 for 26, one double, one home run, one RBI, eight games

Gonzalez hasn’t been able to find his groove at the plate yet in the AFL. Two of his four hits of gone for extra-bases.

RHP Quinn Priester

  • 0-2, 6.63 ERA, 19.0 innings, 21 hits, 14 earned runs, eight walks, 18 strikeouts, five appearances/five starts

Priester had a tough outing on the mound for Surprise this week as he allowed six earned runs across four innings.

LHP Omar Cruz

  • 1-1, 5.40 ERA, 10.0 innings, 10 hits, six earned runs, nine walks, nine strikeouts, seven appearances

After pitching well through his first five appearances to begin the season, Cruz struggled on the mound this week for the Saguaros.

RHP Tahnaj Thomas

  • 0-0, 11.05 ERA, 7.1 innings, nine earned runs, six walks, eight strikeouts, seven appearances

It continues to be tough sledding for the Pirates’ right-handed pitching prospect in the AFL. He is picking up a solid amount of strikeouts, though.

RHP Colin Selby

  • 0-0, 2.57 ERA, 7.0 innings, seven hits, two earned runs, four walks, eight strikeouts, seven appearances

Of all the Bucs’ pitching prospects in the AFL this year, Selby has been the one who has seen consistent success on the hill.
