PBN’s 2024 MLB Playoff Predictions

The 2024 MLB playoffs are upon us.

After the New York Mets won an electrifying first game of a doubleheader and the Atlanta Braves won the back-half on Monday, the playoff field is now set. 12 teams have their eyes on the World Series trophy.

Last year’s improbable matchup featured the Texas Rangers and Arizona Diamondbacks with the former winning their first title in franchise history. Neither pennant winner from a year ago is in the playoff picture this season, however.

Because of that, MLB will not have a repeat champion yet again. The last time a team won consecutive World Series champions ships was the New York Yankees from 1998-2000.

In this year’s playoffs, the Yankees are the top seed in the American League while the National League goes through Los Angeles and the Dodgers. The full playoff bracket can be found HERE.

Our three-man staff at Pittsburgh Baseball Now has made our predictions. Here’s how each of us see the 2024 MLB playoffs unfolding:

Griffin Floyd

  • NLCS: New York Mets vs. San Diego Padres
  • World Series: New York Mets over Baltimore Orioles in seven games
  • World Series MVP: Francisco Lindor

Danny Demilio

  • ALCS: New York Yankees vs. Houston Astros
  • NLCS: San Diego Padres vs. Philadelphia Phillies
  • World Series: San Diego Padres over New York Yankees in seven games
  • World Series MVP: Manny Machado

John Perrotto

  • ALCS: Baltimore Orioles over Cleveland Guardians
  • NLCS: Los Angeles Dodgers over Milwaukee Brewers
  • World Series: Los Angeles Dodgers over Baltimore Orioles in five games
  • World Series MVP: Shohei Ohtani
