Pirates Spring Preview: Under the Lights Against Yankees in Tampa

Published

on

Billy McKinney, Pittsburgh Pirates

The Pittsburgh Pirates will have a rare spring training night game as they head to Tampa for a matchup with the New York Yankees at 6:35 ET.

On the mound for the Pirates will be right-hander Quinn Priester. The 23-year-old is one of the starters vying for a spot in the club’s opening day starting rotation.

Priester has totaled three appearances (two starts) this spring and has a 7.04 ERA. Though he was tagged for five runs in 3.2 innings in his last start against the Philadelphia Phillies, he probably pitched better than that line would indicate. Priester has only walked one batter this spring and has struck out five in 7.2 innings.

Billy McKinney will bat leadoff for the Pirates and attempt to extend his 13-game on-base streak. He’s reached base safely at least once in every game he’s played in this spring.

The game will be televised on SportsNet Pittsburgh and can be hear on the radio on 100.1FM/AM 1020.
