Ke’Bryan Hayes Keeping His Trusty Glove Despite Recent Close Call

Saturday night, the Pittsburgh Pirates played the Washington Nationals in game three of a four game series. The defense by the Buccos in that game was impeccable; Ben Gamel made run-saving diving catches, good paths to the ball were taken, and then Ke’Bryan Hayes just casually snagged a pop-up destined for the dugout.

During that play, we all saw the ball seem to almost fall through the web of the glove completely. Hayes’ glove fell apart last week, and none of us were sure if this was the refurbished glove or a new glove that may have the same issue as the previous glove.

“No it was the same glove that was repaired,” said Hayes. “When I get time, I may send it out to get completely refurbished but as of now I don’t have the time.”

Baseball players are one of man’s most habitual/superstitious creatures, and Hayes is no different. A man’s glove is an extension of himself, so expect Hayes to fix the glove continuously until the off-season, where hopefully it’s restored back to its best condition.
