Pirates Prospect Watch: Top Prospects Lead The Way in Indy
What a night it was for several of the top Pittsburgh Pirates’ prospects in Triple-A Indianapolis.
Led by a strong start by right-hander Quinn Priester on the mound, Endy Rodriguez and Nick Gonzales got the job done at the plate for the Indians.
Elsewhere, High-A Greensboro continued their hot start to the season while Low-A Bradenton collected 10 runs on 16 hits.
Here are some of the standouts from Saturday’s minor league action.
INDIANAPOLISÂ (6-8)
SS Nick Gonzales
- Game stats:Â 4 for 5, two doubles, one triple, one RBI, one run
- Season stats:Â .275/.371/.529, three double, two triples, two home runs, five RBIs, 14 games
C Endy Rodriguez
- Game stats:Â 3 for 5, one home run, one RBI, two runs
- Season stats:Â .267/.340/.444, one triple, two home runs, nine RBIs, 11 games
Priester, who allowed two runs and struck out nine in 4.2 innings, along side big games from Gonzales and Rodriguez, helped the Indians take down the St. Paul Saints 9-2.
Outfielder Chavez Young filled up the stat sheet with two hits, a double, three RBIs, a run and a stolen base. Fellow outfielder and Pirates’ prospect Ryan Vilade was on base four times.
ALTOONA (3-5)
CF Lolo Sanchez

C Dylan Shockley
- Game stats:Â 2 for 4, one run, one walk
- Season stats:Â .400/.538/.400, one RBI, four games
In what is becoming a regular occurrence, Sanchez is again a highlight thanks to a two-hit game. Shockley joined Sanchez with a pair of hits and was on base three times.
Pirates prospect Domingo Leyba drove in a pair but the Curve fell 5-4 in 10 innings to the Erie SeaWolves.
GREENSBORO (6-2)
3B Jackson Glenn

DH Abrahan Gutierrez
- Game stats:Â 2 for 3, one run, two walks
- Season stats:Â .357/.471/.536, two doubles, one home run, five RBIs, seven games
Gutierrez and the Grasshoppers both stayed hot to begin the season as Greensboro picked up a 7-3 win over the Jersey Shore BlueClaws. Pirates’ prospect Jackson Glenn notched his first home run of the year in the victory.
Ernny Ordonez had three hits and scored twice in the victory.
BRADENTON (4-4)
3B Deivis Nadal

LF Enmanuel Terrero
- Game stats: 3 for 5, one double, two runs
- Season stats: .259/.364/.481, one double, one triple, one home run, eight RBIs, two steals, seven games
Nadal and Terrero helped to pace a Bradenton offense that scored 10 runs in their 10-3 win over the Lakeland Flying Tigers.
In addition to Nadal, Pirates’ prospect Alexander Mojica homered while seven of the nine players in the Marauders’ lineup had at least two hits.
