Pirates Postgame: Reynolds Big Day Wasted As Pirates Lose To Giants

Published

on

Bryan Reynolds had a big day today with 3 hits, 5 RBI’s, and 3 runs, albeit his efforts were wasted as the Giants won on a walk-off home run by Thairo Estrada.

The offense showed spark today as we note Kevin Newman, Rodolfo Castro, and Jason Delay also had multiple hit performances. However, the latter was pinch hit for with Josh VanMeter who ultimately struck out as well as mishandling a routine double play ball that costed the Pirates the game. Why was Josh VanMeter in the game? Maybe you can help us with a comment below.

It also wasn’t a pretty pitching performance by Zach Thompson who has not produced well since his return from the IL on July 3rd. The 5 earned runs were produced from the 7 hits he allowed. Since his return he now has now given up 50 hits in 40 innings pitched.
