Pirates Option Three to Triple-A; Reassign Two More to Minor League Camp

Published

on

The Pirates announced additional roster moves as they continue to trim their spring training roster. Infielders Liover Peguero and Tucupita Marcano and outfielder Jack Suwinski have been optioned to Triple-A Indianapolis while catchers Carter Bins and Endy Rodriguez were reassigned to minor league camp.

Just like the roster moves that were announced earlier on Tuesday, there are no real surprises in the latest rounds. Marcano had an outside shot of beginning the season with the big league club, but the Pirates decided that he’ll be better served getting more time in the minors.

All five players saw action this spring with the Pirates. Peguero made a fantastic diving play in Tuesday’s loss to the Orioles, and Marcano hit a sacrifice fly that scored Bins, who doubled two batters earlier.

The Pirates spring training roster now consists of 53 players, including 17 non-roster invitees.
