Pirates Option Aaron Fletcher to Triple-A Indianapolis

The team hasn’t announced the move yet, but the Pirates have optioned left-handed pitcher Aaron Fletcher to Triple-A Indianapolis, as seen in the team’s transaction logs on Pirates.com.

The move likely comes as a precursor to the team activating Anthony Banda off the 10-day injured list, as the left-hander is set to return on Tuesday. The news comes after the Bucs already optioned Miguel Yajure and Sam Howard to Indianapolis earlier in the day.

Fletcher has pitched in 8.2 innings over eight appearances for the Pirates so far this season. He’s yielded 10 hits, including a pair of homers, with three walks and six punch outs. He’s posted a 9.35 ERA/6.78 FIP.

The left-hander had a streak of four straight scoreless appearances from Apr. 14-20, but has surrendered five runs over his last three appearances.

The Pirates claimed Fletcher off waivers from the Mariners shortly after the lockout was lifted.
