Pirates Minor League Report: Solometo Roughed Up In Return

Published

on

Pirates' left-handed pitching prospect Anthony Solometo shows off his funky wind-up.

Pirates’ top left-handed pitching prospect Anthony Solometo made his return to game action on Friday after spending more than a month on the Development List, tagged for three runs in 3.2 innings for Low-A Bradenton. The Marauders went on to lose 8-1 as their bats struggled in similar fashion.

Triple-A Indianapolis continued to roll offensively, logging 17 hits as they took down the Iowa Cubs 7-3. Four of those hits came from Alika Williams, who continues to swing a hot bat, while Henry Davis made his presence known with a pair of doubles.

Right-hander Thomas Harrington worked 5.2 scoreless innings, striking out five batters on 91 pitches. The Altoona Curve went on to defeat the Erie Sea Wolves 3-1, plating a pair in the ninth thanks to a Yoyner Fajardo triple and a sacrifice fly from the ever-dependable Charles McAdoo.

The Greensboro Grasshoppers dropped a 6-4 decision to the Asheville Tourists. 2022 first round pick Termarr Johnson belted a homer to center with two outs in the ninth, but it wasn’t enough to spark a comeback after starter Derek Diamond surrendered six runs in the first three innings.
