Pirates Injury Notes: Henry Davis, Ke’Bryan Hayes, Michael Chavis and More

Pirates’ director of sports medicine Todd Tomczyk spoke to the media today about all the latest injury updates for the organization.

Henry Davis, who was placed on the 7-day injured list with a right oblique strain, will be out 4-6 weeks, ending his season. The 2021 first overall selection was off to a hot start to begin he professional career, hitting .308 with a 1.195 OPS and six extra base hits in eight games between the Florida Coast League and High-A Greensboro.

Regarding the Major League team, Ke’Bryan Hayes, who Derek Shelton described as day-to-day, did fielding and throwing activities today. Hayes injured his hand in Sunday’s win over St. Louis.

Michael Chavis is currently on the 10-day injured list with a right elbow strain and will rest for the next 5-7 days, but there is optimism he will play again this year.

JT Brubaker, currently on the 10-day IL with a right thumb contusion, will throw his second side session today, and Dillon Peters, on the 10-day injured list with a lower back strain, has resumed playing catch.
