PBN Around the Horn: 11 Seconds, Yeah That’s Enough To Get Excited For

Welcome to the PBN Around the Horn. Here you’ll find news and notes from across Major League Baseball, your Pittsburgh Pirates, and around the Sports Now network.

UPDATE (12:18 p.m.) Jeff Passan has said that the Players Association and MLB will meet on Monday. It is expected that the players will give their offer. (Side note) O/U of the meeting lasting 10 minutes? I NEED ANSWERS!!

It was just a typical Thursday afternoon catching up on some podcast episodes. MLB Pipelines’ podcast had an episode that stood out, especially for Pirate’s fans. The particular podcast episode featured Jesse Sanchez discussing the international market and some teams that stood out.

It was no shock that he mentioned the Yankees and Red Sox, but there was maybe an 11-second snippet where Sanchez mentioned the Pirates and how they emerged as a team in the international market.

“The Pirates are another team that has emerged; yes, they do have some history in the international market, but over the past few years, they really made a strong push, particularly in Asia,” Sanchez said regarding the Pirates activity.

After talking with John Dreker of Pirates Prospects, he pointed out the particular scout in Asia that has put in a ton of work, and his name is Fu-Chun Chiang. It’s thanks to Chiang and a plethora of others for prospects like Po-Yu Chen, Tsung-Che Cheng, and now Hung-Leng Chang. So when/if guys like Chen, Cheng, or Chang pan out, you can thank Chieng for his dedicated work.
