MLB Pipeline released their updated Top 100 prospects list and all six Pirates prospects in the top 100 have improved their original rankings before the start of the season. Those six prospects are Nick Gonzales (No. 18), Henry Davis (No. 20), Oneil Cruz (No. 22), Quinn Priester (No. 51), Liover Peguero (No. 62) and Roansy Contreras (No. 67). Of the six, Peguero saw the highest climb up the rankings, jumping 17 spots from No. 79.

Outside of Peguero, the other five boosts to the rankings are largely due to graduations of prospects originally listed ahead of them. Pipeline remains high on the Pirates system, giving all six prospects a 55-overall grade. The Pirates are tied with the Dodgers for the most prospects in the Top 100 for any one organization.

Contreras and Cruz are the only ones who have seen action at the Major League level, and Contreras is expected to be recalled by the Pirates this week.

Cruz is starting to heat up with Triple-A Indianapolis and could wind up in Pittsburgh before long. The other four are currently with Altoona in Double-A, though Davis and Priester are both on the injured list.
