Pirates Prospect Watch: P.J. Hilson Clubs Two Homers
Pirates’ minor league affiliates enjoyed an almost perfect Thursday, picking up five wins in six games as they finally managed to sneak a pair of makeup doubleheaders into their schedule.
Triple-A Indianapolis split their doubleheader with the Toledo Mud Hens, falling 8-6 in extra innings after Toledo tied it in the seventh before fighting back to claim the rematch 5-3.
The Altoona Curve picked up a 4-1 win over the Akron Rubber Ducks, putting up the three-run difference with a trio of ninth-inning doubles.
The Greensboro Grasshoppers swept their doubleheader with the Hickory Crawdads, eking out a 2-1 win to kick things off courtesy of a two-run homer from Charles McAdoo. Their offense then hit its stride, with P.J. Hilson hitting two homers in an 11-1 Game 2 win.
Eddy Rodriguez provided all the offense the Bradenton Marauders needed, lacing a three-run double to the left-field corner. Carlson Reed struck out four batters in six innings on the way to a 3-1 win.
