Pirates Minor League Report: Early Exit for Top Lefty Solometo

Pirates’ top-ranked left-handed pitcher Anthony Solometo has endured an up and down season, and that continued on Sunday afternoon.

The 21-year-old New Jersey native settled in after allowing two runs and three hits in the first inning for Altoona, but still got the hook after just 60 pitches and four innings. The Curve’s offense didn’t fare much better, managing just four hits in another 5-2 loss.

Termarr Johnson got two hits and stole a base during his final game for Greensboro, while catching prospect Omar Alfonzo hit his tenth homer of the season… and second since receiving the call to High-A.

Triple-A Indianapolis lost 5-2 to the Columbus Clippers in a game without many notable performances to speak of; Bradenton lost by the same margin. Michael Kennedy gave the Marauders five scoreless innings before Lakeland roughed up their bullpen, and Shalin Polanco made his way on base three times.
