Pittsburgh Pirates-Termarr Johnson

The Pirates have promoted 2022 first round pick and No. 3 team prospect Termarr Johnson to Double-A Altoona, Pittsburgh Baseball Now confirms.

The 20-year-old has endured an up-and-down season in Greensboro so far, his second in High-A: he’s slashing .238/.372/.385 with 17 doubles, a triple and 13 homers in 110 games. He started off cold for the first two months of the season before catching fire in July, helping him earn an All-Star Futures game selection. His bat tabled off to start August but he’s warmed up again in the past week.

Despite parts of three seasons in the minor leagues, Johnson has yet to face a pitcher younger than him in his professional career: the better part of two seasons in High-A might seem excessive, but he’s still relatively ahead of schedule.
