Pirates Minor League Report: Bubba Chandler Shoves in Triple-A

Published

on

Pittsburgh Pirates right-hander Bubba Chandler

Pirates’ top prospect Bubba Chandler didn’t suffer any growing pains as he made his Triple-A debut on Friday night, striking out six batters and allowing just two hits in seven innings: even better, he did so on an efficient 85 pitches. The Indians went on to win 6-0.

The Altoona Curve survived a 12-9 track meet against the Portland Sea Dogs, riding homers from Jackson Glenn, Kervin Pichardo and Brenden Dixon.

Greensboro shut out the Rome Emperors 6-0. J.P. Massey turned in four scoreless innings and Termarr Johnson, whose bat has cooled off significantly after a torrid July, managed one hit and struck out twice.

The Bradenton Marauders won 9-4, with Javier Rivas logging three hits and 19-year-old right-hander Clevari Tejada continuing to impress with 4.2 scoreless innings in relief.

Here’s a look at the top performances as Pirates’ affiliates pulled off an organizational sweep.
