Pirates Minor League Report: Bubba Chandler Off to Triple-A
Two pitching performances stood out amongst Pirates prospects on Friday night as a difficult return from injury continued for Mike Burrows; Bubba Chandler, meanwhile, earned his promotion to Triple-A.
Triple-A Indianapolis saw their winning streak screech to a halt at nine games, as they lost 5-4 to the Toledo Mud Hens. Although he managed to strike out seven batters, Burrows continued to struggle to make outs and pitch deep into games, lasting 3.1 innings and giving up four runs.
Altoona defeated the Richmond Flying Squirrels 9-3, with Bubba Chandler pitching seven innings and allowing one run in his final Double-A start: the Pirates promoted him to Indianapolis following the game, moving their current top prospect just one level away from the big leagues.
Greensboro saw their game postponed due to rain, while the Bradenton Marauders lost 5-4 despite an eighth inning go-ahead homer from slugging first baseman Esmerlyn Valdez.
