The Scottsdale Scorpions, the team consisting of prospects from the Pittsburgh Pirates, Detroit Tigers, New York Mets, San Francisco Giants and Toronto Blue Jays, began their Arizona Fall League slate on Tuesday night with a 9-8 win over the Salt River Rafters.

Termarr Johnson is among the Pirates’ prospects competing in the AFL this year, and despite an injury scare late in the game, appears to be alright. In the top of the eighth inning, Johnson swung and missed at a pitch and immediately grabbed for his lower right leg before being helped off the field.

According to MLB Pipeline’s Kelsie Heneghan, was removed with a leg cramp and appears to be fine and celebrated with his teammates on the field after the win.

Johnson had a productive night at the plate prior to his premature exit. He led off the game with a no-doubt home run to right. The Pirates’ No. 3 prospect later drove in his second run of the game with a base hit in the second and finished 2 for 4 with a pair of runs scored and a walk.

In addition to Johnson, three other Pirates’ prospects appeared in the game. Outfielder Sammy Siani went 2 for 5 with a home run, an RBI and a pair of runs scored.

On the mound, right-hander Khristian Curtis tossed three-perfect innings of relief, struck out four batters and was the winning pitcher. Fellow right-hander Eddy Yean allowed a run in the ninth inning but held on for the save to preserve the win for the Scorpions (1-0) over the Rafters (0-1).

Up next, Scottsdale will play the Mesa Solar Socks on (1-0) on Wednesday night.
