Pittsburgh Pirates reliever Dennis Santana got into a heated altercation with a fan in attendance at Comerica Park during a game against the Detroit Tigers on Thursday night.

The game between the Pirates and Tigers was the second game of a doubleheader. As the game was headed for a rain delay, a fan took a video of Santana appearing to take a swing at a fan seated above the bullpen.

Santana had to be restrained by bullpen coach Miguel Perez and bullpen catcher Raúl Hernández after things escalated.

Santana, 29, is in his second season with the Pirates after he was acquired via waivers from the New York Yankees last June. In 70 relief appearances with the Pirates, the right-hander is 3-2 with a 2.14 ERA and six saves.

Entering play on Thursday night, Santana was 2-1 with a 1.74 ERA and a career-high five saves.
