The Pittsburgh Pirates have announced that they have claimed RHP Thomas Hatch off waivers from the Toronto Blue Jays.

Hatch is a 28-year-old relief pitcher from Oklahoma, and was drafted by the Chicago Cubs in the fourth round in 2016 out of Oklahoma State University.

The Cubs traded Hatch July 30, 2019 to the Blue Jays for David Phelps, and since then, Hatch has been a Blue Jay, until this point.

Hatch throughout his major league career has been with the Blue Jays, and made his major league debut on July 26, 2020 with the Blue Jays.

Hatch has pitched a total of 46.2 innings in the majors and carries a 5.40 ERA. In 2023, Hatch has appeared in six games and holds an ERA of 4.26 with 10 strikeouts and five walks in 6.1 innings pitched.

Hatch was designated for assignment on Friday, Aug. 4.
