Roberto Clemente Jr. Part of Father’s Remembrance at PNC Park on Saturday

Roberto Clemente Jr. and his family will attend a remembrance of his father’s death 50 years after the fact in a ceremony at noon Saturday at the Clemente Statue outside PNC Park.

The event is open to the public.

The legendary Pittsburgh Pirates outfielder died on the evening of Dec. 31, 1972, at age 38, in a plane crash off the coast of his native Puerto Rico. Clemente was traveling to Nicaragua to deliver supplies to earthquake victims.

Joining Roberto Clemente Jr. at Saturday’s ceremony will be his wife Kailee and their young sons Roberto Clemente III and Leo Roberto.
