Report: Pirates Place Dillon Peters on the 15-Day IL Retro to June 3rd

Nothing has been made official, but the Pittsburgh Pirates have placed Dillon Peters on the 15-day IL retro to June 3rd. No specifics have been made about Peters’ injury, and there were no indicators in his last outing or at least blatant ones.

In the 2022 season, Peters has appeared in 16 games (four starts), 26.2 innings pitched, 3.86 ERA, and has held opponents to a .161/.291/.218 slash line along with an OPS of .510. Since being moved to the pen, Peters has become a different pitcher.

Peters’ last outing took place on June 1st against the Dodgers, where he pitched 2/3rds of an inning, allowed one hit, and walked one, earning his third hold of the season. Going back and watching the game, you don’t see any concern or wince from Peters, so now we wait for the official news.

Rumors now will circulate as to who will come up to take Peters’ place; pitchers like Jared Eickhoff, Cody Bolton, and even Aaron Fletcher come to mind. Time to sit and twiddle our thumbs for a while, folks.
