Report: Pirates Option Hoy Park to Indianapolis; Yu Chang Joins Pirates

Published

on

Per the team’s announcement, the Pirates have optioned INF Hoy Park to Triple-A to make room for recently acquired INF Yu Chang. Park was called up for the series finale against the Padres Sunday night and appeared in a pinch-running situation. Park was tagged out at home after an attempt to score on a passed ball.

Chang, as you know, was acquired by the Pirates from the Cleveland Guardians for cash considerations. Chang was recently DFAd by Cleveland on May 26th.

According to multiple reporters, Chang is in Los Angeles and seems to be available for the Pirates to play. Since Change is not in Monday’s lineup, one can assume that he is available in a pinch-hit situation if need be. During the 2022 season, Chang has had just ten at-bats and has yet to get a hit on the year.

You got to feel for Park in a way. Park got a call around two in the morning, hopped on a plane shortly after, showed up to San Diego with little time to spare, and then sent right back down to Indianapolis. Baseball is cold-blooded, man.
