Potential Signings: Per Rosenthal, Pirates Are In Talks With Roberto Perez
Per Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic, the Pirates are in serious talks with free-agent catcher Roberto Perez. The 32-year-old Perez has spent his entire career with Cleveland and carries a lifetime .206 batting average. On the defensive end, Perez carries an RF/9 of 10.28 and throws runners out at a 39% clip.

With the departure of Jacob Stallings, the Pirates are left destitute at the catcher position in terms of names on the 40-man roster. Perez and his bat may not speak for itself but adding a solid defensive option is a good thing for the Pirates. We here at Pittsburgh Baseball Now will keep you informed as the news comes in on Perez or any other potential signing.
