Who’s Hot/Who’s Not

Who’s Hot: Manny Bañuelos has come on strong as of late, giving up just one earned run in 11 games and 11 innings dating to July 8.

Who’s Not: Bryan Reynolds has had a rough go of things in his last 55 at-bats, batting .200/.313/.291 with three runs batted in.

Tidbits:

  • Greg Allen hit his first home run as a Pirate Friday night, and that marked his first homer since Aug. 23, 2020, when he did it with Cleveland against Detroit.
  • Allen became the 21st Pirates player to hit a home run Friday night. The Pirates have now tied the Giants for the most in that category.
  • Ben Gamel hit just his fifth career home run against a lefty Friday night. Gamel’s last home run against a lefty was against the Atlanta Braves and Max Fried on July 5, 2021.
