Pirates Prospect Watch: Suwinski Provides Offense; Rodriguez Stays Hot
Saturday night, the Pittsburgh Pirates major league club was embarrassed yet again with a shutout loss, 6-0 to the Phillies in Philadelphia.
The Pirates’ farm system, on the other hand, had a ton of bright spots to talk about. Friday night we highlighted a few Pirates prospects like Malcom Nunez and Jack Suwinski.

Indianapolis Indians
OF Jack Suwinski
- Game: 2 for 4 with three RBIs and a double
- Season at Triple-A:Â .214/.285/.410 with an OPS of .695
RHP Johan Oviedo
- Game: 3.2 innings pitched, three hits, no earned runs, one walk, and four strikeouts.
- Season with Indy:Â 11.1 innings pitched, eight hits, one earned run, three walks, and thirteen strikeouts
Indianapolis had to hold on towards the end of the game, but beat Rochester 5-3. Suwinski hit a two-RBI double and finished the night with three ribbies. Johan Oviedo started and threw 63 pitches (36 strikes) in 3.2 innings pitched.

OF Connor Scott
- Game:Â 2 for 4 with two RBIs

It took extra innings for Altoona, but it pulled out a 10-8 victory over Bowie. Endy Rodriguez registered his fifth homer in Double-A, and five Curve players registered multi-hit games.

INF/OF Jase Bowen
- Game: 2 for 4
- Season at High-A: .140/.177/.228 with an OPS of .405
Greensboro hit a snag in Saturday’s game against Greenville, losing 8-4. Logan Hofmann got roughed up in 2.1 innings pitched, allowing four earned runs. Bowen, Wilson, and Jacob Gonzalez registered multi-hit games.

Bradenton had a rough night losing a key game in their playoff race against Dunedin 5-2. Joelvis Del Rosario toughed out five innings despite giving up eight hits. Cheng and Brannigan were the only hitters to register an extra-base hit.
