Pirates Prospect Watch: Ji-hwan Bae, Mason Martin Make Push For Promotions
At this point in the season for the Pittsburgh Pirates, maybe it is time for a couple guys with Triple-A Indianapolis to get a shot with the big league club.
Both Ji-hwan Bae and Mason Martin produced for Indianapolis despite their loss to the Omaha Storm Chasers. Neither has had a chance to make his major league debut yet.
Regardless of what the Pirates choose to do with Bae and Martin before the end of the season, here are the top performers from Thursday.
Indianapolis Indians (68-63)
1B/DH Mason Martin
- Game:Â 3 for 4 with a home run, a double, an RBI and a walk
- Season:Â .215/.296/.418, 25 doubles, five triples, 17 home runs, 68 RBIs, 12 steals, 119 games
INF JI-hwan Bae
- Game:Â 2 for 5 with an RBI and a steal
- Season:Â .297/.365/.445, 20 doubles, six triples, eight home runs, 52 RBIs, 98 games
The Indians fell to 5-4 but Bae and Martin both had multiple hits in the loss.
Altoona Curve (65-63)
C/INF/OF Endy Rodriguez
- Game:Â 2 for 4
- Season:Â .363/.449/.763, 10 doubles, eight home runs, 25 RBIs, 24 games
RHP Brad Case
- Game:Â 2.2 innings, one hit, no runs, one walk, five strikeouts
- Season:Â 1-2, 3.86 ERA, 60.2 innings, 56 hits, 19 walks, 58 strikeouts, 27 games
The Curve lost 9-2 to the Erie SeaWolves but Rodriguez showed why he entered Baseball Americas Top 100 list this week. Case looked strong out of the bullpen.
Greensboro Grasshoppers (58-68)
INF Jackson Glenn

RHP Cristian Charle
- Game:Â 1.1 innings, one hit, no runs, no walks, no strikeouts

The Grasshoppers fell to the Bowling Green Hot Rods 11-2, but Glenn and Charle had good games. Outfielder Yoyner Fajardo doubled in the loss.
