Pirates Prospect Watch: How The Indianapolis Indians Scored 19(!) Runs
On Sunday, the Indianapolis Colts of the National Football League scored 20 points in their 20-20 tie against the Houston Texans.
Also on Sunday, the Triple-A Indianapolis Indians scored just one less tally than the team they share a city with, finishing with 19 runs in its win over the Omaha Storm Chasers.
The Indians racked up 17 hits, leading to a big day at the plate for many in the lineup.
Here is a rundown of the top performers from Indianapolis and Double-A Altoona. High-A Greensboro and Low-A Bradenton both had their games postponed.
Indianapolis Indians (70-64)
3B Kevin Padlo
- Game:Â 3 for 3 with two doubles, two RBIs, three runs and three walks
- Season:Â .320/.381/.453, seven doubles, one home run, 15 RBIs, three steals, 19 games
LF Blake Sabol
- Game:Â 2 for 4 with a double, three RBIs, a run and a walk
- Season:Â .342/.468/.658, one double, one home run, three home runs, nine RBIs, 11 games
That’s right. In the Indians’ 19-9 win over the Storm Chasers, Padlo was on base in all six of his plate appearances. Sabol, on the other hand, continued his torrid start to his Triple-A career. Brendt Citta, who pinch hit for Sabol late in the game, homered in his only at-bat.
Mason Martin collected a pair of doubles and three RBIs, Jared Oliva had three hits while Ji-hwan Bae turned in a two-hit performance.
Altoona Curve (67-64)
2B Liover Peguero
- Game:Â 1 for 5 with a home run, two RBIs and two runs
- Season:Â .258/.299/.385, 22 doubles, five triples, nine home runs, 56 RBIs, 23 steals, 116 games
C Henry Davis
- Game:Â 1 for 4 with a double, an RBI and a run
- Season:Â .194/.313/.327, seven doubles, two home runs, 14 RBIs, 26 games
Peguero’s homer and Davis’ double were the only two hits for Altoona in the Curve’s 6-5 11-inning loss to the Erie SeaWolves.
Lolo Sanchez hit a sacrifice fly for Altoona and drew a walk.
