Pirates Prospect Watch: Endy Rodriguez, Henry Davis Standout For Altoona

The Pittsburgh Pirates have a pair of intriguing catching prospects in their system, both of whom are currently with the Double-A Altoona Curve.

Henry Davis and Endy Rodriguez are rated near the top of every top prospect list for the organization, and the duo helped the Curve earn a victory Tuesday night.

Here are some of the Pirates’ prospects who performed best in Tuesday’s action.

Indianapolis Indians (67-61)

C Carter Bins

  • Game: 2 for 3 with a home run, two RBIs, three runs and a walk
  • Season: .207/.300/.413, 12 doubles, one triple, 10 home runs, 29 RBIs, 62 games

OF Jared Oliva

  • Game: 2 for 4 with a double, a run and a steal
  • Season: .244/.300/.400, 15 doubles, three triples, six home runs, 26 RBIs, 17 steals, 79 games

The Indians came up just short in their 8-7 loss to the Omaha Storm Chasers. With his two-hit performance, Oliva has had multi-hit games in four of his last six games.

Bins hit his 10th homer of the season in the loss and scored a season-high three runs.

Altoona Curve (64-62)

C/DH Endy Rodriguez

  • Game: 3 for 4 with two doubles, two RBIs and a run
  • Season: .361/.455/.771, 10 doubles, eight home runs, 25 RBIs, 22 games

C Henry Davis

  • Game: 1 for 4 with a double, two RBIs, a run and a steal
  • Season: .198/.337/.346, six doubles, two home runs, 13 RBIs, two steals, 22 games

Rodriguez had three more hits as he continues his successful start to his Double-A career to lead the Curve to an 8-1 victory over the Erie SeaWolves.

Malcom Nunez blasted his fifth home run with the Curve, and right-hander Aaron Shortridge limited Erie to one run over five innings.

Greensboro Grasshoppers (58-66)

RHP Nick Garcia

  • Game: 7.0 innings, three hits, no runs, four walks, six strikeouts,
  • Season: 4-4, 3.66 ERA, 113 innings, 90 hits, 46 walks, 109 strikeouts, 25 games/23 starts

1B Jacob Gonzalez

  • Game: 1 for 4 with a home run and two RBIs
  • Season: .286/.354/.418, 13 doubles, one triple, nine home runs, 45 RBIs, 84 games

Garcia shined for Greensboro, and Gonzalez hit his ninth homer of the season as the Grasshoppers defeated the Bowling Green Hot Rods 6-2.

Garcia has only allowed three earned runs over his last four outings. Abrahan Gutierrez and Sammy Siani each collected two hits.

Bradenton Marauders (64-62)

INF Jack Brannigan

  • Game: 2 for 4 with an RBI and a run
  • Season: .209/.306/.349, three doubles three home runs, 12 RBIs, six steals, 23 games

OF Tres Gonzalez:

  • Game: 1 for 4 with a double and two RBIs
  • Season: .329/.397/.400, three doubles, one triple, 10 RBIs, three steals, 21 games

A pair of 2022 draftees highlighted Bradenton’s top performers but the Marauders fell to the Clearwater Threshers 5-4.
