Pittsburgh Pirates Jacob Stallings

Former Pittsburgh Pirates catcher Jacob Stallings has joined the organization’s front office as a specialist, baseball operations.

Stallings was drafted by the Pirates in the seventh round in 2012 and spent parts of six seasons in the big leagues with Pittsburgh. Despite being designated for assignment early in his career with sparse playing time through his first few seasons, Stallings emerged as a Gold Glove winner behind the plate in 2021, his final season with the team.

In 249 career games with the Pirates, Stallings hit .254 with a .701 OPS, 35 doubles, one triple, 17 home runs and 94 RBI. He was traded to the Miami Marlins after the ’21 season for three players including current Pirates reliever Kyle Nicolas.

After Pittsburgh, Stallings played for the Marlins, Colorado Rockies and Baltimore Orioles before retiring after the 2025 season.
