Not too long ago, the Pittsburgh Pirates were devoid of any real catching talent in the minor leagues. Now, the Pirates have two standouts, which may pose some problems; then again, it might not.
Henry Davis and Endy Rodriguez have thrust themselves into a position of curiosity, which isn’t necessarily bad. With Rodriguez and Davis nearly on the same timeline to the majors, it leaves us wondering who will be the full-time catcher for the Pirates of the future.
With Davis having injury concerns and being a hit-by-pitch victim an absurd amount of times, it would seem that Rodriguez is the logical choice, but we have to look at the bigger picture here.
