Pirates End ‘25 Home Slate With a Bang, Thump Athletics in Another Shutout Win

PITTSBURGH — Maybe the Pittsburgh Pirates were saving all their offense for the final home game of the 2025 season.
Jared Triolo and Joey Bart both homered and had four-hit games for the Pirates in their 11-0 win over the Athletics on Sunday afternoon.
How We Got There
Andrew McCutchen singled home Bryan Reynolds with two outs in the top of the first and Nick Gonzales followed with an RBI double to put the Pirates (67-89) ahead 2-0 against Mitch Spence (3-6).
The following inning, Jared Triolo belted his seventh home run of the season, a two-run shot to left to double the Pirates’ lead. Triolo ended the game with three RBI.
Oneil Cruz’s two-run single capped off a three-run four inning, and Joey Bart hit a three-run home run off former Pirate Osvaldo Bido to put the Pirates ahead 10-0 in the fifth. Spencer Horwitz drove in the 11th run of the game on a groundout in the eighth.
Mike Burrows, Carmen Mlodzinkski (5-8), Yohan Ramírez and Dauri Moreta combined to blank the Athletics (73-83).
Key Moment
The two-out rally the Pirates put together in the top of the first inning sparked a big day for the bats and ensured the home portion of the schedule ended on a high note.
