Pittsburgh Pirates- Austin Hedges

The Pittsburgh Pirates have announced that catcher Austin Hedges has been placed on the 7-day concussion protocol list. In response, the Pirates have selected the contract of Tyler Heineman from Triple-A Indianapolis.

To make room on the 40-man roster for Heineman, the Pirates were forced to DFA recently claimed RHP Edwin Uceta from the Detroit Tigers.

In less surprising news, the Pirates have also announced that OF Ryan Vilade has cleared waivers and was sent directly to Triple-A Indianapolis.

There is no news as of yet on how severe Hedges’ concussion is, but when we hear anything, we will let you know right here at Pittsburgh Baseball Now.
