Pirates Trade Rumors: Royals Interested in Bryan Reynolds

The Kansas City Royals are interested in Pittsburgh Pirates outfielder Bryan Reynolds, according to Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic.
Reynolds, 30, is in his seventh big-league season with the Pirates. In 82 games this year, the switch-hitter is batting .237/.301/.393 with 16 doubles, two triples, 10 home runs, 45 RBI and three stolen bases.
It was a slow start to the season for Reynolds, who has heated up of late. In 24 games in June, Reynolds hit .256 with a .772 OPS and 11 extra-base hits. Over his last 10 games, Reynolds is batting .357 with a 1.015 OPS, a pair of home runs and six RBI.
The Pirates acquired Reynolds from the San Francisco Giants in the 2018 Andrew McCutchen trade. He made his debut in Pittsburgh in 2019 and has slashed .273/.347/.462 with 898 hits, 173 doubles, 28 triples, 132 home runs and 456 RBI in 876 games. Reynolds has been named a National League All-Star twice, the first time in 2021 and again last season.
Reynolds signed a franchise record eight-year, $106.75 million contract extension in 2023. He’s under contractual control through the 2030 season and there is a $20 million club option with a $2 million buyout for the 2031 season.
Rosenthal notes that talks between the two clubs have yet to gain any serious traction, and the Royals are looking at a number of other options to try and remedy their hitting struggles this season.
Reynolds is one of a handful of Pirates’ players generating trade interest four weeks ahead of the trade deadline.
The Pirates, despite a 6-0 homestand, are expected to trade away several players from their big-league roster by the deadline on July 31.
Just don’t let Cherrington do the trading!!
It won’t matter. There’s no one on the Royals worth a dam that would come back to the Bucs. Pasquatino since they have Caglione but I’m not seeing anyone else there.
Bonehead Ben would Botch any trade!
I’ll take Vinnie Pasquantino please
Well, they will not give us Caglionone, and they have basically nothing else in their farm system, so no thanks. I don’t trust BC to make a trade now anyway.
Don’t trade away offense when we need offense. Makes not a bit of sense if they do that. He is a run producer
The Pirates have need for an outfield bat (2 if they trade Reynolds) and the Royals are looking for an outfield bat. Don’t see how they match up for a trade unless a third team gets involved.
No trades please. He is incompetent to evaluate talent and always overpays for players with marginal skills
