Pirates Thumped By Brewers; Andrew Heaney’s Struggles Continue

Andrew Heaney continued to struggle for the Pittsburgh Pirates in their 7-1 loss to the surging Milwaukee Brewers at American Family Field on Monday night.
How We Got There
Heaney (5-10) allowed six runs (five earned) on nine hits with two walks and three strikeouts in four innings in his start.
Brice Turang hit a leadoff homer off the left-hander in the bottom of the first. Christian Yelich then kicked off a four-run third inning with a solo homer to center. Sal Frelick and Brandon Lockridge added RBI singles before Milwaukee scored another on catcher Joey Bart’s throwing error. Andrew Vaughan bunted in a run in the fourth.
Bart was responsible for the Pirates’ lone run off Milwaukee starter Jose Quintana (10-4) with a solo homer to right field in the second.
Chase Shugart returned from the injured list and allowed one run in three innings of relief.
The Brewers (74-44) extended their winning streak to 10 games. The Pirates (51-69) have lost three in a row.
